PM Khan meets Azerbaijan at WEF

PM Imran Khan briefed Azerbaijan President Aaliyev about the current situation going on in Occupied Kashmir.

DAVOS: (Urdu Point/Pakistan Point News-Jana 22nd, 2020) Prime Minister Imran Khan met Azerbaijan President IIham Aliyev in Davos to discuss bilateral ties and on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

According to the details, Prime Minister thanked the central Asian country for continuous support on the issue of Kashmir. He said that President Aliyev’s efforts had resulted in Azerbaijan voicing support for the people of occupied Kashmir at a meeting of a contact group of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation last year.

Associated Press of Pakistan—the state news agency, claimed that PM Imran also apprised President Aliyev on the continuous human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by the Indian government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his meeting with the Azerbaijan President, PM Imran reiterated Pakistan's continued support for the central Asian country on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a territorial and ethnic conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts. They also took up the whole spectrum of bilateral relations that have been marked by mutual trust and support and agreed to maintain frequent bilateral exchanges, including at the highest level. President Aliyev also extended an invitation to Prime Minister Khan to visit his country.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to UN at Geneva Ambassador Khalil Hashmi.
