Kosmokurs Space Tourism To Generate Net Profit 5 Years After First Launch - CEO

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2020) Suborbital space tourism flights that the Russian Kosmokurs company is currently developing will start generating net profit five years after the start of the flights, Kosmokurs CEO Pavel Pushkin told Sputnik.

"According to our calculations, the entire project will reach a payback 10 years after the start of implementation or within five years from the first launch," Pushkin said.

Kosmokurs announced that it was starting flight tests of its new rocket in May of last year. The company also plans to complete the construction of its own space center in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region in 2023.

Kosmokurs received a license for carrying out its space projects from the Russian Roscosmos space agency in 2017. The company plans to offer tourists 15-minute flights within a group of six people. The tourists will be able to stay in zero gravity for five to six minutes, moving freely inside the cabin.

According to Kosmokurs, a ticket for a space flight aboard Russia's first reusable suborbital commercial system will cost around $200,000-$250,000.

The company plans to carry out up to 115 launches a year. The first Kosmokurs suborbital space tourism flight is planned for 2025.
