Four-day Polio Vaccination Campaign Concludes In Larkana

LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Dec, 2016 ) : The four-day anti-polio drive to administer Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) drops to children, under age of five years, successfully concluded here on Thursday.

The District Health Officer (DHO) Larkana, Dr. Abdul Fateh Bughio told newsmen Friday, that 758 mobile teams were engaged that visited house-to-house and administered polio drops to the concerned children.

He said that during the campaign more than 306850 children were given anti-polio drops. He further said that the mobile teams also visited remote and far-flung areas throughout the Larkana district and administered OPV to the children.

Besides, he said there were 49 fixed vaccinations centre and 08 transit points in Larkana, Dokri, Ratodero, Bakrani of Larkana district for this purpose. DHO Larkana regretted that a negative propaganda campaign had been launched against Oral Polio Vaccines.

He said that polio eradication drive was in a decisive phase in the entire Talukas of Larkana district and therefore a coordination strategy by the authorities, donor agencies and health professionals is required. He urged the parents to administer polio drops to their children in every anti-polio drive for success of the campaign aimed at complete eradication of polio virus.
