MoU Signed Between Karachi University And Sir Syed University

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th july, 2016) : Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed Monday between Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) and Karachi University (KU) for educational, scientific and cultural cooperation.
The MoU signed by the Vice Chancellors of both the universities will enable students and faculty to access to research journals and knowledge sharing on research, innovation and commercialization, said a statement on Monday. Speaking on the occasion Jawaid Anwar, Chancellor Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology said that the time has come to adopt a new approach to look at things and it is global requirement to share the knowledge that helps an organization as a whole to meet its business objectives.
Today, the creation and application of new knowledge is essential to the survival of almost all businesses. The only sustainable competitive advantage is continuous innovation or application of new knowledge.
Chancellor Jawaid Anwar gave an advice to form a committee comprising the representatives from Guidance Centre or ORIC to monitor the implementation of all the clauses of the MoU in its true sense. Vice Chancellor Karachi University, Prof.
Dr. Muhammad Qaiser said that we are living in the age of innovation and excellence and it is hard to survive without research development. It is time for sharing resources and knowledge and this MoU will aid both universities to be mutually benefited by the joint research.
This is the only way to compete with the world and rise to the challenges.
He pointed out that industry and academia have no cordial relationship. This is the reason why they are reluctant to provide funds to the projects of the academia. Earlier Vice Chancellor Prof.
Dr. Syed Jawaid H. Rizvi said that Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology is the first and now the largest university in private sector of Pakistan that is completely self reliant and consistent with the underlying principles of the Aligarh Movement, emphasizing on quality education, discipline and promotion of brotherhood among the students. Syed Sarfraz Ali said the ultimate objective of the MoU signed today is to pave way for establishment of a regional centre of excellence for technology, innovation and culture, having international standards.
Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), SSUET Prof. Dr. Rabia Noor Enam said this agreement will enhance research culture and help both universities to develop a strong linkage with industrial sector.
Highlighting the salient features of the agreement, Prof. Dr. Aliya Rehman, Director ORIC, KU said that the MoU will provide the facility of knowledge sharing to both the organizations including access to research journals, joint research, on-line lectures, training and development programme of common interest.
