Good Manufacturing In Pharma Industry To Be Encouragd: Kh. Imran

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th july, 2016) : Parliamentary Secretary Health & Chairman Chief Minister's Task Force on spurious and substandard Medicines Khawaja Imran Nazir has said the taskforce is aimed at provision of quality medicines to the people and good manufacturing practices in pharmaceutical industry will be encouraged. In a statement, Kh.
Imran Nazir said that complete cooperation would be extended to those in the pharmaceutical industry who maintain quality of drugs. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had set up the task force for the purpose of supply of quality medicines to the people and elimination of spurious and substandard drugs.
He said the task force during its raids sealed such units as were manufacturing different brands of medicines of licensed companies illegally.
Kh. Imran Nazir said that action was taken against bogus pharmaceutical companies and the office-bearers of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Association appreciated this step.
Kh. Imran Nazir said that drug inspectors had been given strict instructions not to harass the owners of licensed pharmaceutical units of quality drugs otherwise action would be taken against them.
However, he said, the task force would not be deterred by blackmailing. He further said that complete protection would be provided to such pharmaceutical units which are producing medicines in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMP).
