LHC Multan Bench To Hear Case Of PML-N Candidate's Disqualification

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Dec, 2016 ) : The Lahore High Court Multan Bench will hear the case of disqualification of PML-N candidate for the slot of chairman of district council on December 20 (Tuesday).
Earlier, District and Sessions Court had rejected nomination papers of Muhammad Abbas Bokhari, PML-N candidate for the slot of chairman district council. Umar Farooq, a UC Chairman of PTI had filed the petition against Muhammad Abbas Bokhari, in which he maintained that the PML-N candidate had resigned from UC-180 Chairmanship and contested by-polls in NA-153 Jalalpur Pirwala.
He further stated that Muhammad Abbas Bokhari had obtained 277 votes, so he could not contest election for district chairman.
For contesting election of Chairman district council, one should be a chairman of UC as it was mandatory.
After hearing the arguments by the lawyers of both parties, the District and Sessions judge rejected the nomination papers of Muhammad Abbas Bokhari. The PML-N candidate Muhammad Abbas Bokhari had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court Multan Bench to challenge his disqualification.
He stated that he could contest election as he had not tendered resignation. The Lahore High Court Multan Bench would hear case on December 20 (Tuesday). It was pertinent to mention here that election of district council chairmanship would held on December 22.
