Motorcycle Production Goes Up By 15% In 3 Months

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Dec, 2016 ) : The production of motorcycles increased by 14.90 percent during the first three months of the fiscal year 2016-17 compared to the production of the corresponding period of last year.
The production of motorcycles stood at 571,301 units during July-September (2016-17) compared to the production of 497,217 units during July-September (2015-16), according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
On year on year basis, the production of motorcycles increased by 19.02 percent as it went up from 163,144 units in September 2015 to 194,178 units in September 2016. Meanwhile, During the first three months of the current fiscal year, the production of buses increased by 67.57 percent by going up from 222 units during July-September 2015-16 to 372 units in July- September 2016-17 whereas the production of trucks increased by 59.54 percent from 1,127 units last year to 1,798 units during the current fiscal year.
However, the production of tractors during the period declined by 1.08 percent by going down from the output of 7,316 units last year to 7,237 units this year. The production of jeeps and cars witnessed negative growth of 3.39 percent during the period under review compared to the corresponding period of last year.
As many as 45,420 jeeps and cars were manufactured during the period compared to the production of 43,878 units last year. The production of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) also witnessed negative growth of 33.02 percent by going down from the output of 10,478 units during last year to 7,018 units during the current year.
Meanwhile, on year on year basis, the production of jeeps and cars witnessed negative growth of 5.
83 percent by going down from the production of 15,412 units in September 2015 to 14,513 units in September 2016.
The production of LCVs declined from 3,568 units during September 2015 to 2,230 units during September 2016, showing negative growth of 37.50 percent. The production of buses and trucks during the month under review increased by 78.79 percent and 58.73 percent respectively compared to the same month of last year.
As many as 66 buses and 378 trucks were manufacture during September 2016 compared to the production of 118 and 600 units Respectively in August 2015. The production of tractors increased by 21.32 percent in September 2016 during which the output was recorded at 2,453 units compared to the production of 2,022 units in September 2015, the PBS data revealed.
It is pertinent to mention that the country's large scale manufacturing (LSM) witnessed growth of 2.20 percent during July- September (2015-16) compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The Quantum Index Numbers (QIM) of large scale manufacturing industries was recorded at 123.32 points against 120.66 points during same period of last year. The highest growth of 1.28 percent was witnessed in the indices monitored by Provincial Bureaus of Statistics (PBOS) followed by 1.04 growth in the indices of Ministry of Industries and 0.12 negative growth of Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) indices.
On year on year basis, the industrial growth increased by 1.90 percent during September 2016 as compared to same month of last year while on month on month basis, the industrial growth decreased by 1.83 percent during September 2016 when compared to growth of August 2016, the data revealed.
