NUML Pays Tribute To APS Martyrs

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Dec, 2016 ) : Governance and Public Policy (GPP) Department of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) Friday arranged a ceremony to pay tribute to martyrs of Army Public school (APS) Peshawar.
According to a press release issued here, Senator Lt. General (R) Abdul Qayyoum Khan was the chief guest on the occasion while Rector NUML Major General Zia Ud Din Najam (Retd), Managing Director Pakistan Sweet Homes, MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi, Head of Department of GPP Major Gen (R) Syed Usman Shah, Registrar, Deans, Directors and large number of students attended the ceremony.
Senator Abdul Qayyoum said Pakistan has two bitter memories of December 16, one is in 1971 and the other is APS incident. He said coward enemy tried to scare us by killing our children. He said, "Pakistan is a great and brave nation we have lost sixty thousands man, women and children in the war against terrorism yet we are determined to eliminate this terrorism from our soil." He said Pakistan has endured loss of $112 billion in this war on terror and the world knows and admires our sacrifices in this regard.
Managing Director Sweet Homes, Zamurd Khan paid tribute to the martyrs of APS. He said "The sacrifices of our children will not be forgotten and we just do not restrict ourselves to arrange programmes in their memories but we have to come up with solid steps to educate millions of children who are out of schools." "It is our moral responsibility to provide them best education and to make them better citizens of Pakistan," Zamurd added.
The MNA Shehryar Khan Afridi stressed the need to rise like a nation and work collectively to make Pakistan strong. Earlier, Rector NUML Maj General Zia Ud Din Najam (Retd) in his welcome address highlighted the importance of martyrs and shared his personal experiences.
He said thousands were martyred to achieve this motherland and the brave son of soil still giving their blood to keep this pious land alive. He said it is our duty to keep their mission alive and do not forget their sacrifices for the country.
The HoD GPP Major General (r) Syed Usman Shah also paid rich tribute to the martyrs of APS and thanked all the guests for attending the ceremony.
