Weekly Inflation Slides Down By 0.52%

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Dec, 2016 ) : The weekly inflation for the week ended on December 15 for the combined income group declined by 0.52 per cent as compared to the previous week.
According to data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) here Friday, the Sensitive price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 219.43 points against 220.58 points registered in the previous week.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 0.41 percent. The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007 2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
Meanwhile, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 8000 decreased by 0.60 per cent as it went down from 211.71 points in the previous week to 210.44 points in the week under review. As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001 to Rs 12,000, Rs 12,001 to 18,000, Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 and above Rs 35,000 also decreased by 0.58 per cent, 0.57 per cent, 0.53 per cent and 0.46 per cent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 12 items registered decrease, while 15 items increased with the remaining 26 items' prices unchanged. The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included tomatoes, potatoes, pulse mash (washed), chicken farm, LPG cylinder, pulse masoor (washed), pulse moong (washed), onion, powdered milk, rice Irri-6, red chily powder and pulse gram (washed).
The items which recorded increase in their average prices included match box, eggs (farm), bananas, cigarettes, sugar, tea, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin), vegetable ghee (loose), bathing soap, garlic, firewood whole, gur, curd and wheat.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included wheat flour, rice basmati, bread plain, beef with bone, mutton, fresh milk, mustard oil, salt powder (loose), cooked beef, cooked pulses, tea (prepared), long cloth, shirting, lawn printed, georgette, gents sandal, gents shoes, ladies shoes, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, kerosene oil, electric bulb, washing soap, petrol, Hi Speed Diesel and telephone call charges.
