PTI's popularity dropped due to its backtacking on commission: Asif

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Dec, 2016 ) : Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khwaja Muhammad Asif Saturday said the popularity graph of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had further dropped due to its backtracking on the formation a judicial commission to investigate the Panama papers.

He was addressing a meeting of chairmen and vice-chairmen of union councils, and local parliamentarians here at the PML-N House. Provincial Minister for Local Bodies Punjab Mansha-Ullah Butt, MPAs Chaudhry Muhammad Ikram, Zulfiqar Ghauri and Muhammad Asif Bajwa, newly-elected mayor of Sialkot Chaudhry Tauheed Akhtar and Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed, PML-N Sialkot District President Idrees Ahmed Bajwa and local traders and exporters were also present on the occasion.

The minister said the people were now politically mature as they had rejected the 'politics of sit-ins and confrontation' being pursued by the opponents of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

He said the loyal workers were a precious asset of the PML-N and that was why the government was ensuring their dignity enabling them to serve the people in a better way. Khawaja Asif pledged that he would make all-out efforts to solve the long-standing civic problems of the Sialkot city during the year 2017.

The Sialkot Campus of National University of Science and Technology (NUST) would be established near Sambrial for providing quality education to the youth, he added. The minister said the construction of the mega project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway would simultaneously start in next couple of days at Sahowala, Daska and Sialkot under the joint supervision of National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

The land had already been acquired for the project, he added. On this occasion, Mansha-Ullah Butt said that the local governments system would start functioning across the province from December 31 this year and it would help the elected representatives to serve the masses at gross-roots level.

Earlier, Khawaja Asif visited Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). He assured the Sialkot exporters of early solution of their problems, including payment of duty drawback and sales tax refund claims worth billions of rupees.

The minister said the government was well aware of the problems being faced by the business community and was making all-out efforts for their to resolution.
