Aqeel To Lock Horns With Shahzad In BB Shaheed Int'l Tourney Final

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Dec, 2016 ) : Top seed Aqeel Khan and Shahzad Khan will vie for the top honour in the Men's Singles final as they defeated their opponents in the semifinals of the Second Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) International Tennis Tournament on Saturda at Islamabad Tennis Complex, G-5.
In the first best of five sets semifinal Aqeel Khan of WAPDA won the first set at 6-3 by breaking fourth and sixth game of Ahmed Chaudhry by displaying aggressive game from the base line and on the net.
In the second set Ahmed Chaudhry built up the lead 3-1 by breaking fourth game of Aqeel Khan. At this stage Aqeel levelled the score 3-3 all by breaking fifth game of Ahmed. Aqeel Khan won the second set 6-4 by breaking ninth game of Ahmed Chaudhry.
In the third set Aqeel Khan built up the winning lead 3-1 by breaking third game of Ahmed and won the set at 6-3 by breaking sixth game of his opponent. The match lasted for one hour and 50 minutes.
In the second semifinal, Shahzad Khan defeated Muzammil Murtaza in a marathon five-set match. Muzammil started well in the first set, winning it at 6-3 by breaking fifth game of Shahzad. In the second set Shahzad came back strongly and won it at 7-5.
Both the players displayed quality tennis. Muzammil won the third set in the same fashion to build up the lead 2-1. In the fourth set Shahzad showed his experience against his junior opponent, winning it at 6-3 with two breaks and levelled the score two sets all.
In the final set Shahzad did not allow Muzammil to play his natural game and took the set at 6-0 without conceding a single game. The match lasted four three hours and 45 minutes. In Ladies Singles semifinal, fifth seed Mahin Aftab made the major upset when she outplayed top seed Sara Mansoor in two sets 6-1, 6-2.
She will face Ushna Suhail in the final on Sunday. Mahin was in excellent form and displayed powerful game from the baseline and on the net. Rashid Malik and Hamid ul Haq won the seniors 45 doubles final by beating Israr Gul and Jehanzeb Khan in well contested three-set match at the score of 1-6,7-5,10-5.
In the boys under 10 singles final Hamid Israr won the title by beating Hamza Roman in a two-set fixture at score 5-3,5-3. Shoaib beat Nalain Abbas 6-1 6-3; Hamza Bin Rehan beat Ahmed Kamil 6-2 6-4 Boys U-10 Finals Hamid Israr beat Hamza Roman 5-3 5-3. Senior 45 Plus Doubles Finals Rashid Malik & Hamid-ul-Haq beat Israr Gul & Jehanzeb Khan 1-6,7-5,10-3
