MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) Russian power equipment supply and engineering giant Inter RAO - Export said on Friday that it had signed with Cuban state electric energy power company Energoimport a road map for the project on a major overhaul of 10 power units with a single installed capacity of 100 megawatts (MW) at three Cuban thermal power plants.The document was signed at the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical cooperation, which runs from Wednesday through Friday.
"Inter RAO - Export LLC and Cuban state electric energy power company Energoimport signed an agreement on the road map for the implementation of the project to overhaul 10 power units with a single installed capacity of 100 MW at three Cuban thermal power plants," the Russian company said in a statement.
The facilities in question are the Este Habana, Maximo Gomez and Antonio Maceo thermal power plants.
According to Inter RAO - Export LLC Director General Maxim Sergeev, the parties initially discussed a project to overhaul three units, but the Cuban side later decided to increase the number to 10 units.
He expressed hope that once a contract was signed, the company would overhaul two power units every year starting from 2021.
