BENGHAZI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) The Libyan National Army's (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar held talks with the US ambassador to Libya in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, in which they discussed the military situation in the country and the fight against terrorism, the LNA General Command's press service said on Friday.
"[Field] Marshal Khalifa Haftar met with US Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland to discuss the military situation in Libya and counterterrorism actions," the statement obtained by Sputnik read.
The sides also talked about strengthening the relationship between the two countries.
Since the 2011 US-sponsored overthrow and killing of Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi, the country has been divided into a western part under the internationally recognized Government of National Accord in Tripoli and a parallel administration in the east backed by the LNA.
