WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) A whistleblower's complaint about US President Donald Trump's communication with a foreign leader focuses on his talks with Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US media reported.
The complaint, lodged by a US intelligence operative, accuses Trump of compromising national security by making a promise to a foreign leader in a phone conversation. Trump described the reports about the complaint as fake news.
The complaint was filed 2.5 weeks after Trump's phone conversation with Zelenskyy, The Washington Post newspaper reported on Thursday, citing two sources, familiar with the situation.
According to the Politico media outlet, during a closed-door briefing, acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire refused to share details of the complaint with the Congress. In turn, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff threatened to launch legal action against the Trump administration, if the details are not disclosed.
