Russia Gathers Intelligence On Saudi Oil Strike - Naryshkin

IZHEVSK (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) Head of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said Thursday that his agency is gathering information on possible perpetrators of the resent attack on Saudi oil facilities, but has not yet made any conclusions.

"We are collecting this data, but we are not making any final conclusions," Naryshkin told reporters.

In light of accusations against Iran as being behind the attack, he stressed that conclusions cannot be drawn without concrete evidence.

Last Saturday, Saudi Arabia was forced to shut down two Saudi Aramco oil facilities, namely Abqaiq and Khurais, after drone attacks claimed by Yemeni Houthis caused massive fires. The incident led to a cut in oil production totaling 5.7 million barrels per day about half of Saudi Arabia's daily oil output.

On Wednesday, the Saudi Defense Ministry held a press conference to present what it described as evidence of Iran's involvement in the attacks. Tehran has refuted the accusations.
