LAHORE (Pakistan Point News – 1st November, 2016 ) : Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan (JI) has offered the retired chief of army staff General Raheel Sharif to join the party for holding an operation in politics like he has already held a successful military operation against terrorism during his tenure in Pakistan. This offer was formally given by Dr Waseem Akhtar, the parliamentary leader of Jamaat Islami in Punjab Assembly , elected from Bahawal Pur ,southern area of the province, during the assembly proceedings on Thursday.

Highlighting the political situation of the country on a supplementary question during the Question Hour in the House, JI leader said he formally invited General (Retd) Raheel Sharif to join them as politician after two years as per national laws and rules and regulation for the army officer.Paying rich tribute to General (Retd) Raheel Sharif, JI legislator said that the former army chief had maintained law and order by holding successful military operation against terrorists in the country so such act is also needed in the politics and for such purpose, he should join JI.

Interestingly, when the JI’s parliamentary leader Dr Waseem tabled his offer to a retired general to join JI against the party’s political hierarchy and procedure of joining, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Minister Nadeem Kamran raised a question that what the position would be given to a general against the traditional hierarchy system in his party.Dr Waseem saying, he would not answer the question raised by a government minister as he has said what he wanted to say anyhow, and sat on his seat.

Seeing the situation, the Speaker Rana Iqbal restricted both the colleagues for no more argument on the issue. On a point of order, Ahsan Riaz Fatiyan of opposition benches highlight the issue of dual national judges and bureaucrats and said that he had submitted a resolution against the dual nationality holder judges and bureaucrats but it was not entertained in the House.Replying to this, Speaker said that he had halted such resolution by using his discretionary powers under the rules of procedures of the provincial assembly of Punjab so he should not talk on the matter.

Though the opposition member protested but later calmed down positively. The House on Thursday passed all four bills including amendment bill related to Criminal Prosecution Service Punjab and Par, amendment in Parks and Horticulture Authority, Halal Development Agency Punjab, and a bill related to compound feed of animal. Later, the House started general discussion on agriculture and different legislators spoke on the issues of the sector. Later, the Speaker adjourned the session till today.
