Commissioner For Evolving Strategy To Control Road Accidents

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Nov, 2016 ) : Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha on Wednesday directed the departments concerned to evolve a comprehensive and coordinated strategy to control road accidents.
He called for compiling detailed report about the reasons, timings and sides of the excessive road accidents so that precautionary and preventive measures could be taken to avoid the accident. He was presiding over a meeting to examine the matters regarding excessive road accidents and take remedial measures.
DCO Salman Ghani, Secretary District Regional Transport Authority Asif Noul, Chief Traffic Officer Arif Shahbaz Wazeer, Rescue 1122 representative Faisal Munir, Administrator FUTS Major (R) Wajahat Ali Javed, ACG Mehr Shafqat Ullah Mushtaq and others were present in the meeting.
The Divisional Commissioner said complete data should be collected from hospitals, Rescue 1122, traffic police and other concerned departments regarding road accidents for analyzing their kinds to devise better traffic management.
He stressed the need to discourage underage drivers of motorcycles/rickshaws and directed for launching special campaign to check the underage drivers and said the vehicles of the underage drivers should be impounded immediately besides taking actions against them.
He also directed for examining U-turns on roads and said that the necessary remodeling of the U-turns should be managed. He urged that traffic signage should be erected on the important sites of roads for the guidance of drivers regarding reducing the speed.
The Commissioner said that a committee comprised of traffic police, roads department and other concerned departments should jointly conduct survey of the roads for making the intersections/U-turns according to the Traffic Engineering.
DCO Salman Ghani informed that various projects had been proposed for improving traffic management and 20 sites had been identified for the installation of traffic signals and its remodeling. APP/aar/ia/zqr/ati � 22:40/22:50/22:50
