ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd july,2016) : In Indian Held Kashmir, people of Kargil district in Ladakh region observed complete shutdown and staged massive protests against the ongoing civilian killings by Indian forces. According to KMS, call for the shutdown and protests was given by Imam Khumani Memorial Trust (IKMT) and it was supported by Islamia school, Kargil. After Nimaz-e-Zuhr, the protesters, carrying placards and banners, marched through main bazaar in Kargil town.
The procession culminated at Lal Chowk. IKMT leader, Sheikh Muhammad Hussain Lutfi, led the protest march. Addressing on the occasion, the speakers strongly condemned the civilian killings, imposition of continued curfew, use of excessive force on peaceful protesters and media gag in the Held Kashmir Valley.
They said that it was highly condemnable that India was using brute force on the peaceful unarmed protesters in occupied Kashmir. "The killing and suppressing the voices is a direct attack on the principles of democracy.
Let me tell the Indian authorities that they can't control Kashmir by killing innocent people. It is in the interest of India to get the Kashmir dispute resolved," Sheikh Muhammad Hussain Lutfi said in his speech. A Pro-India leader Asghar Ali Karbalai also addressed the protesters.
He said that killing innocent people would lead Government of India nowhere. Expressing sympathies with the people of the Held Kashmir Valley, he said that Kashmir was a political dispute and it should be resolved politically. Reports said that besides Kargil main town, all other important areas including Buroo, Poin and Thaksangroun observed complete shutdown to express solidarity with the people of the Held Valley.
Schools, shops and business establishments remained closed. Vice Chairman of IKMT, Maulana Abass Karrari, expressing concern over the killings of innocent civilians in the Valley termed it a "blot on Indian democracy".
