Drug Inspectors Asked To Pace Up Checking Of Medical Stores

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Nov, 2016 ) : Chief Drugs Controller,Punjab, Dr Zaka ur Rehman has directed the drug inspectors to step up tracing out medical stores running without pharmacist and manufacturing units involved in preparing either illegal or spurious medicines.

Reviewing the monthly report of drug inspectors,he expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of drug inspectors regarding checking and inspection of medical stores and pharmaceutical units which are involved in preparing bogus medicines.

He directed drug inspectors to submit weekly report of their performance otherwise stern action would be taken.

During inspections during last three months over 200 medical stores in different parts of the province including Lahore city had been sealed due to non-availability of pharmacist.

It is pertinent to mention here that appointment of a pharmacist is mandatory to run the medical store,otherwise the business of sale and purchase of medicines at such medical stores is considered unlawful. Many medical stores near Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospitals had also been sealed during inspections few weeks back where pharmacists were not available.
