Lok Virsa To Pay Tribute To Legendary Poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz On Aug 5

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd july,2016) : National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage would pay tribute to legendary poet Faiz Ahmad Faiz for his contributions in urdu literature,on August 5 at Lok Virsa Media Center.
The Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed said that Faiz Ahmed Faiz was a national literary asset and a credit to the country. Faiz Ahmad Faiz was part of progressive movement in Urdu poetry and his work is an inspiration to many poets and writers after his times.
He was supporter of communist ideology and always raised voice against social and political ills pervailing in his time.
His poetry and his struggle was always appreciated by masses and movements. Faiz's collection of work "Nuskha Ha e Wafa" is one of the finest works in Urdu poetry.
Faiz was recipient of Lenin Peace prize which is considered to be Russia's equivalent of West's Nobel Peace Prize. He published eight books and all of them were sold in huge numbers. Faiz Ahmad Faiz also worked for British Indian Army but later submitted his resignation in 1947.
He died in 1984, but still remains in the hearts of literature admirers. In this event book would also be launched by Ahmed Salim a famous writer.
