Navy's Role Significant In Promoting CPEC: Mushahid Sayed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Nov, 2016 ) : Chairman Senate Defence Committee, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that in the context of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the pivotal role of the Gwadar port, the Pakistan Navy's role will be truly significant in promoting CPEC through strengthening of the Gwadar Port.
He acclaimed the role of the Pakistan Navy which successfully detected and chased out an Indian nuclear powered submarine while it was trying to enter Pakistan's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea.
Talking to the media, Senator Mushahid informed that he also spoke on a point of public of importance in the Senate on this issue. The Indian submarine, apparently on a spying mission, tried to sneak into Pakistan's territorial waters but it was successfully traced, monitored, pursued and then forced to flee without damaging Pakistan's national security, he said.
Senator Mushahid Sayed during his meeting with the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Zakaullah as well as other naval commanders personally congratulated the Pakistan Navy for showing exemplary vigilance, operational preparedness and decisive leadership, which helped counter the enemy navy's designs.
He said that the entire Pakistani nation is proud of Pakistan Navy, which has time and again not only protected Pakistan's maritime security but also promoted Pakistan's maritime economy by expanding Pakistan's continental shelf which will be a great boon for the economy.
