Polling Held In Peaceful Environment In AJK Elections: IG

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21th july, 2016) : Inspector General of Police Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Bashir Ahmed Memon Thursday said law and order situation remained peaceful during the polling day in AJK. Law enforcement agencies have made foolproof arrangements to ensure peace, as a result, no incident of violence was occurred in AJK elections day, he said talking to ptv. He said 4500 polling stations were established throughout the region and Police and Army personnel were deployed at every polling station by the government. Bashir Memon said the Federal government had provided about 6000 police personnel to maintain peace during the polling in AJK.
He said a independent and peaceful environment was provided to the voters that is why they came out freely to cast vote without any fear. The IG said that measures have also been taken to maintain law and order situation even after the polling when results of the elections are announced and people celebrate victory. He said extra police personnel are deputed at the offices of Returning Officers (RO). The Police is totally impartial and neutral and performing duties with professional attitude, he added.
