AJK Chief Justice, CEC rule out possibility of rigging

ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News - 21th july, 2016) : Top judiciary and Chief Election Commissioner in Azad Kashmir have ruled out any possibility of rigging in the Legislative Assembly elections held on Thursday. During visit to polling stations and at the time of casting votes on Thursday, both the Chief Justice Azad Kashmir Supreme Court Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and Chief Election Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa Mughal expressed satisfaction on the polling process.

"There is no possibility of any kind of rigging or malpractice in this environment," he told private news channel about the arrangements, after casting his vote. "I do not think that such free and fair elections were ever held before in Azad Kashmir," he added. Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal also described the polls free, fair and transparent. "The voters list is transparent and votes are being cast after confirmation of the voters through CNIC.

" He said all necessary arrangements were made to ensure transparency. "If nobody will be allowed to cast bogus votes then how anybody can claim of rigging the elections." Later talking to ptv, he appreciated the role of civil administration and Army jawans to maintain peace and ensure transparency. "I also visited polling stations along with the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police and nobody complained of any malpractice." He said at couple of places the polling had started behind the schedule but the election staff was advised to facilitate voters accordingly. "The day went well and polling was peaceful. Transparency ensured by the Election Commission has negated the claims of any possible rigging," he added.
