SC Acquits Death Sentence Convict Over Lack Of Evidences

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Nov, 2016 ) : The Supreme Court Friday suspended the Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict and acquitted Farooq a death sentence convict over lack of evidences.
A three-member bench of the court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and comprising Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Mian Muzaffar counsel for Mazhar Farooq appeared before the court.
The prosecutor informed the court that Mazhar Farooq killed Nisar Ahmad over dispute on animals in Kasur. He said that the case was registered against Mazhar in 1992. He said that trial court awarded death sentence which was maintained by the Lahore High Court.
The bench remarked that there was contradiction in medical reports and statements of witnesses. The court after hearing arguments of counsels directed to release the accused and disposed of the case.
