Governor KP Presides 2nd Meeting Of Senate Of Agriculture Varsity Peshawar

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21th july, 2016) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Thursday presided over the 2nd meeting of Senate of the University of Agriculture Peshawar here at Governor's House, wherein lengthy agenda of further streamlining and working of the organization discussed. The meeting beside others was also attended by the Vice Chancellor Agriculture University, Secretary Higher education Saleem Khan, Secretary Agriculture, Principal Secretary to Governor Sikandar Qayyum, representatives of Higher Education Commission and members of the senate of the university. The Governor said knowledge and research are the main steps for the peace and development of any nation while Agriculture University can play a vital role in the development of agriculture sector of the province. He appreciated University of Agriculture Peshawar for conducting broad based research and urged the University administration to ensure utilization of funds with care and in accordance with financial action plan.
Meanwhile, the senate approved the budgetary estimates for the fiscal year and actual budgetary expenditures for the previous year with the instruction that the budget should be presented for approval to the senate within stipulated time. Earlier the vice chancellor of the university briefed the meeting regarding administrative, research, curriculum activities and procedure about new appointment in the university. He said the university provides a strong base for research in the fields of agriculture and livestock, adding the university has introduced several varieties of different crops. He said that the University has 5 faculties and 3 institutes and currently around 9000 students are enrolled and total teaching faculty stands at 336 out of which 195 are Ph.D.
