Death Anniversary Of Flying Officer Maryam Mukhtar Observed At UAF

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Nov, 2016 ) : Sacrifice of the first martyred Pakistani flying officer Maryam Mukhtar was remembered at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad on her first death anniversary to pay her rich tribute on being a role model for the entire nation.
Special play "Aik thy Maryam" was staged at the Iqbal Auditorium UAF in which a large number of university students participated. Speaking on the occasion, MPA Surayya Azeem said that women were playing marvelous role in every field of life and now they were forwarding their steps towards national defence.
She said, "Maryam is a symbol of achievement for all Pakistani women and whole nation is committed for the defence of the country." She said that the women were proving their mettle in every sphere of life.
She said that the women were capable to prove themselves in all walks of life by giving strength to male force with national enthusiasm.
She said, "The government is taking all measures to empower women as we can't make development without their active participation in socio-economic activities." Director Institute of Home Sciences UAF Dr Farah Riaz said that women in different roles in the society like sisters mothers, daughters etc.
always thought about others before themselves and Maryam also showed this spirit and embraced martyrdom. She said that they were running the project on the women empowerment in collaboration with Aurat Foundation and US Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and food Security.
She said that they were creating the awareness among the society about the women empowerment and their rights.
