PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th June, 2019) Kaspersky Lab is negotiating with a number of automakers to install its on-board computer operating system that will ensure cars' cyberimmunity, the company's CEO, Eugene Kaspersky, told Sputnik in an interview."We are now developing an immune operating system and are working with some car companies to integrate our OS into their onboard systems. That is, they have their operating systems and applications, but we guarantee immunity [from cyberattacks]," Kaspersky said.
According to Kaspersky, the concept of cyberimmunity aims to make cyberattacks more expensive than the profit received from them.
"It is impossible to achieve this level in modern operating systems. We offer our own platform for industrial facilities and IoT [Internet of Things]," Kaspersky said.
As of now, KasperskyOS is installed on telecommunications equipment of a number of manufacturers, as well as at industrial sites. The launch of the company's operating system on smartphones and computers is not planned yet.
"Technically, we can do it, but in order for it to work fully, one has to create hundreds of applications. If some large company approaches us and offers to create applications, while we [will be tasked with] making a platform, I am ready. But it is a very large work to make all these applications on our own," Kaspersky explained, noting, however, that sooner or later immune systems will be installed on personal gadgets.
In late May, Russian tech giant Yandex announced that it had become the official software supplier for multimedia systems of AvtoVAZ, Renault and Nissan carmakers. Within five years, the company will install its Yandex Auto system on more than 2 million vehicles produced in Russia. Yandex's onboard computer may be purchased separately as well.
