Afghanistan Hopes Pakistan to Make Practical Steps Toward Restoring Ties- Foreign Ministry

Afghanistan is hoping that Pakistan will make practical steps toward restoring a bilateral relationship, a spokesman for Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sibghatullah Ahmadi, told Sputnik on Monday

KABUL (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th June, 2019) Afghanistan is hoping that Pakistan will make practical steps toward restoring a bilateral relationship, a spokesman for Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sibghatullah Ahmadi, told Sputnik on Monday.

Afghanistan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Idrees Zaman has arrived in Pakistan at the head a high-level delegation in an effort to restore ties and push Pakistan to make Taliban hold direct peace talks with Afghan government.

"Pakistan has changed its stance, new problems ... made Pakistan change its stance. We hope Pakistan will take practical actions in restoring ties and removing obstacles," the spokesman said.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has recently invited President Ashraf Ghani to visit Pakistan, which was welcomed by US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad.

The relations between the two countries have been complicated as the Afghan government has long accused Pakistan of supporting the Taliban movement.
