Japanese, US Finance Ministers Exchange Views on Economic, Security Issues

Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso and his US counterpart, Steven Mnuchin, on Saturday held talks amid the high-level meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors from the Group of 20 in Japan and discussed economic and security issues, Mnuchin said

FUKUOKA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th June, 2019) Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso and his US counterpart, Steven Mnuchin, on Saturday held talks amid the high-level meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors from the Group of 20 in Japan and discussed economic and security issues, Mnuchin said.

The talks of finance ministers and central banks heads are taking place on Saturday and Sunday in Japan's southern city of Fukuoka

"Today I thanked Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso for his hospitality here at the #G20 in Fukuoka, Japan. We discussed the ongoing close cooperation between the U.S. and Japan across a number of economic and security issues," Mnuchin wrote on Twitter.

The two-day weekend meeting at Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk hotel is one of the eight ministerial gatherings held throughout Japan alongside the G20 Summit in Osaka in late June. The meeting is attended by European Central Bank's outgoing President Mario Draghi, World Bank's new chief David Malpass, and International Monetary Fund head Christine Lagarde.
