MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th June, 2019) Thousands of anti-government protesters took to streets in Liberia to rally against corruption and high rates of inflation in the country, media have reported.
AfricaNews reported on Friday that the so-called Save The State protests had been organized by the Council of Patriots public organization.
Meanwhile, the authorities reportedly blocked internet access in the capital Monrovia in what the outlet called a move to suppress the ongoing protests.
Notably, internet disruption watchdog Neblocks has confirmed the restrictions.
The local Daily Observer newspaper reported on Friday that businesses and schools in Monrovia remained closed during the protests.
