MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th June, 2019) At least 14 Taliban militants were killed in separate operations carried out by the Afghan Special Forces and Air Forces in eastern Khost and Paktika provinces, local media reported on Tuesday.

The operation in Sabari and Nadir Shah districts of Khost province resulted in nine Taliban members being killed, the Khaama Press said. Three more fighters were detained following the raid, according to the agency.

At least 5 Taliban militants were reported killed in three separate airstrikes in Gomal district of Paktika province. Several vehicles, which belonged to the Taliban fighters, were destroyed in the raid, the media said.

The Taliban have a relatively huge presence in eastern Afghanistan, where they often attack police, special forces and civilians.

War-ridden Afghanistan, which has been in turmoil for decades, is split by heavy fighting between government troops and Taliban militants, as well as groups affiliated with al-Qaeda (terrorist group banned in Russia) and other insurgents.
