RIGA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd June, 2019) Riga wants to further develop its economic relations with Russia, especially in the areas of tourism and inter-regional cooperation, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics told reporters on Monday."Russia is an important trade partner of Latvia in many sectors. Therefore, we want to maintain a positive trend in developing our economic relations, especially in transit and tourism. Latvia sees a potential in strengthening economic ties between our countries' regions," Rinkevics said after a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin.
Rinkevics noted that a regional cooperation agreement between the Latvian Ministry of Economics and Russia's Kaluga region was being prepared for signing.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed the work of the Russian-Latvian intergovernmental commission as well as the relations between Moscow and Riga, according to the Latvian minister.
