Abdullah bin Zayed attends evening to celebrate Zayed Humanitarian Work Day

(Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2019) ABU DHABI, 24th May 2019 (WAM) - H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended this evening a celebration held at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to mark Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, which falls on 19th of Ramadan every year.

The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and organised by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf (GAIAA), in collaboration with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.

Present were Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, senior officials, religious scholars and worshippers.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan had laid a solid foundation for humanitarian works, with tolerance being the main pillar.

"The drive of humanitarian work and giving in the UAE continues under the unlimited support of our wise leadership who seek to sustain the values of goodness, tolerance and peaceful co-existence," he said.

Sheikh Abdullah also lauded the efforts of the charitable and humanitarian organisations in the UAE and their endeavours to implement programmes and initiatives all over the world.

"The Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is an occasion to double humanitarian efforts and to strengthen the UAE's global position as a beacon of giving, he added.

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah, Chairman of the UAE Fatwa Council spoke during the event about the 'UAE tolerance in the eyes of the world'.

"We gather here today to commemorate a great leader and to celebrate the values of benevolence and virtue, remembering the deeds of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan," he said.

Turki bin Abdullah Al Dakheel, Saudi Ambassador to the UAE, said the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan worked very hard to see the UAE as a symbol of tolerance that embraces all cultures, nationalities and beliefs.

Father Bishoy of the Coptic Cathedral in Abu Dhabi, said the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was very keen on extending bridges of friendship with all nations of the world.

Omer Habtour Al Dir'ee, Executive Directors of Islamic Affairs at GAIAA, focused his speech on the human fraternity in Zayed's thoughts, remembering the late Sheikh Zayed's meeting with Prince Charles in 1993 and their discourse about islam as a religion of tolerance, compassion and forgiveness.

During the event, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed watched a mural entitled 'We learn from you", with a timeline of inspiring stories about the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Dr. Youssef Al Obaidly, the Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, said the life of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was full of achievements, ambitions and values.

"He inspired the UAE and the whole world. This mural is part of the cultural activities to commemorate the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who left us a coherent community, founded on tolerance and acceptance of the others."

The mural was designed in collaboration with Dr. Fatima Ahmed Al Mazrouei, the author of the 'Sheikh Zayed Trilogy', with illustrations by Fatima Al Bustani.

The Zayed Humanitarian Work Day also saw the audio Quran book distributed to the worshippers at the Zayed Grand Mosque and hosting of orphans sponsored by the Emirates Red Crescent, who visited the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed and recited Surat Al Fatiha for his soul.
