43 registered political parties to contest in elections

MIRPUR (AJK) , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 21st july,2016): At least 43 political parties were in run to contest elections to 49-seat AJK Legislative Assembly elections, lower house of the AJK parliament held on Thursday. A total of 423 candidates belonging to the political parties as well as independents are in the race to contest the polls to 41 seats on direct adult franchise basis.

Famous political parties contesting the polls included Pakistan Muslim League (N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party AJK Chapter, All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference, J&K Peoples Party, MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami.
