Zayed Humanitarian Work Day will encourage launch of charitable, humanitarian initiatives: Hamdan bin Zayed

ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, stated that the annual Zayed Humanitarian Work Day, held on 19th Ramadan, will encourage the launch of many local and international charity and humanitarian initiatives, which will enhance the UAE’s global humanitarian stature.

In his statement marking the day, he added that the UAE’s celebration reflects its unique experience in humanitarian work, whose foundations were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Hamdan affirmed that Sheikh Zayed devoted his life to the UAE and established the values of giving, generosity and cohesion, to safeguard human dignity while noting that his legacy is being followed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, making the UAE a global example of launching humanitarian initiatives.

The UAE has followed a unique model of charitable and humanitarian work, and has intensified its efforts to provide aid during times of crises and disasters, as well as launched development projects to help fragile communities, Sheikh Hamdan said.

Sheikh Hamdan added that the UAE has a commitment to humanity and also plays a key role in improving the lives of people and protecting victims of crises and disasters. He noted that its efforts to decrease poverty and hunger and ease the suffering of those in developing countries, by providing for their basic needs, especially food, will protect them from diseases, epidemics, homelessness and deprivation.

He also mentioned the UAE’s development programmes and projects that aim to provide employment and limit poverty while pointing out the level of annual aid and grants provided by the country, and affirming that the ERC will continue performing its duties in all conditions.

"To us in the ERC, Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is an occasion to stand for one’s rights, support the ERC’s programmes, strengthen its partnerships with the entire community, spread our values and principles, and support our local and international activities and humanitarian programmes, as well as prepare for humanitarian crises everywhere. We must work hard and always aim to achieve," he further added.

"We are utilising our capabilities in a more effective way, to fully benefit from our abilities, strengthen our partnerships, and work together," Sheikh Hamdan said in conclusion.
