The Ukrainian parliament refused on Wednesday to include it its agenda Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's bill proposing changes to the parliamentary elections system

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) The Ukrainian parliament refused on Wednesday to include it its agenda Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's bill proposing changes to the parliamentary elections system.

The president, who was inaugurated on Monday, proposed in the bill to abolish the majority-vote system and to decrease the electoral threshold for political parties from the current 5 percent to 3 percent.

Only 92 out of 450 lawmakers supported discussing this bill. After the vote showed that the majority of the lawmakers did not want to include the bill in the agenda of the extraordinary session of the country's parliament, Andriy Parubiy, the chairman of the parliament, closed the meeting.
