US Physics Lab Wins $2.3Bln For Warfare Research, Testing - Pentagon

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th May, 2019) The US government awarded a university physics lab more than $2 billion to carry out research and development on warfare, missiles and other defense-related programs, the Defense Department said in a press release.

"The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU/APL), Laurel, Maryland, is awarded a $2,351,000,000 [contract]... for research, development, engineering, and test and evaluation for programs throughout the Department of Defense (DoD)," the release said on Friday.

The projects will focus on research and development related to missiles, radar, anti-air warfare, and command and control, among other issues, the release said.

JHU/APLL will also develop and evaluate complex combat systems and the characteristics and limitations unique to the operating environment of Defense Department systems, the release added.
