Militants Storming Hotel In Southern Pakistan - Reports

NEW DELHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th May, 2019) Several militants have stormed the five-star Pearl Continental hotel in the southern Pakistani city of Gwadar, the province of Balochistan, on Saturday, local media reported.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the hotel is cordoned off by police. One can reportedly hear firing near the hotel. According to preliminary data, from three to four militants are taking part in the attack.

The Pakistan Today newspaper reported that at least 70 people were in the hotel, including 40 Chinese citizens. There is still no information about any casualties.

No military group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Pakistan has been facing an insurgency in Balochistan since 1947, with Baloch nationalist organizations struggling to create an independent state. The Balochi is also a major ethnic minority in Iran and Afghanistan.
