Imran Khan knows nothing about oil discovery: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

“He only speaks what he listens. Imran Khan does not even know the name of the company that drills oil,” Abbasi said.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 9th May, 2019) Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan knows nothing about oil discovery.

Speaking in a tv show about the possible discovery of oil and gas reserves, Abbasi said that the government has already extracted oil from the people.

He further said that Imran Khan does not know anything about the oil discover. “He only speaks what he listens. Imran Khan does not even know the name of the company that drills oil,” Abbasi said.

The former prime minister said that he has complete information about how and when the work on oil drilling began.

“The discovery of oil and gas reserves is a good thing but time will tell, if they were actually found,” he said.

If oil and gas are not found from this well, then three or four other wells would have to be drilled and it costs around Rs1.25 billion on drilling of one well, the PML-N leader said.

“In that case, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) can arrest the officials, saying they caused a loss of Rs500 billion and will seek a reply,” he further said.

Even if oil is discovered, it would take around five to seven years to extract it, Abbasi said.

Pakistan found signs of success in the ongoing oil and gas drilling in the deep sea. The details suggest that a kick pressure was felt during the ultra-deep drilling in Kekra-1 area of the Arabian Sea. The kick pressure means presence of huge gas reserves.

It is anticipated that gas discovery will yield gas flows which can be bigger than Sui field.

Let it be known that 3000-meter drilling has been completed so far in the sea and will continue to over 4000 meters. Pakistan Petroleum (PPL), Oil & Gas Development Co (OGDCL), ENI and ExxonMobil are carrying out the drilling.
