Appointments Of 45 Head Of Missions, 10 Council General Still Not Made

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 05th May, 2019) The most competent Federal minister of Prime Minister Imran Khan cabinet Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has so far failed to appoint 45 head of missions and 10 Council General in other countries for months.The process to initiate the appointments was slow down as the foreign minister and the ex-foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua were not on the same page on this matter as both were in favor to appoint their blue eyed on these positions.

These appointment may be made in the current month, says sources.The inner sources stated that ambassadorial appointments should have been announced in November 2018, could not be finalized until May 5, 2019.Sources said that incumbent government has failed to name heads of embassies of 45 important countries including India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Portugal, Japan, Singapore, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Algeria, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Greece, Kenya and so on.

Names for appointment of counsel generals in New York and Frankfurt have not also been decided so far.Pakistan's ambassador to China has been given extension twice in his service. Following the induction of Sohail Mehmood as foreign secretary the position of high commissioner in India has become vacant.Well-placed sources said that the FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi and ex-foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua wants to appoint their favorites in other countries. Thus the recommendations made by the Foreign office for appointment of heads of embassies still await.According to the diplomatic sources, recommendations have also been made to appoint special secretary Imtiaz Ali as ambassador to Japan, Atta Munim Shahid as ambassador to Africa and the incumbent Foreign office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal to Bangladesh.
