NASA Astronauts On ISS To Conduct Another 10 Spacewalks Before 2020 - Source

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th May, 2019) NASA astronauts will conduct 10 more spacewalks from the International Space Station (ISS) before 2020, a source in the space industry told Sputnik on Saturday.

Since the beginning of 2019, NASA astronauts already carried out three spacewalks, two in March and one in April.

"This year, another ten spacewalks are planned for the US program," the source said.

According to the source, during a spacewalk in July, NASA astronauts will prepare a second port at the station for receiving US manned spacecraft. In September-October, six spacewalks are planned to replace the batteries in the US segment of the ISS. At the end of the year, several more spacewalks are planned for the repair of the AMS-02 spectrometer's cooling system.

Russian State Space Corporation Roscosmos told Sputnik earlier that Russian cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Alexey Ovchinin would conduct a spacewalk on May 29.

The current ISS crew comprises NASA astronauts Nick Hague, Anne McClain and Christina Koch, as well as Canadian Space Agency astronaut David Saint-Jacques.
