ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / Online - 03rd May, 2019) 85 percent of eye diseases can be cured without surgery, as timely check-up and proper medicines can save eyesight in maximum cases, a leading hospital announced Friday.Secondary level hospitals are needed to eradicate blindness from the country, therefore, the management of Al-Shifa Trust has decided to establish an eye hospital in the district of Chakwal at the cost of Rs250 million, said President of the Al-Shifa Trust Lt Gen (R) Hamid Javaid.

Talking to a group of journalists after a fundraising event, he said that the hospital in Chakwal will be equipped with all the latest facilities will have the capacity of 250 outdoor patients(ODP) per day.Lt Gen (R) Hamid Javaid said that 18-kanal land has been acquired while designing and construction details of the hospital have been finalised.He said that the project would be completed in two years while its foundation stone will be laid soon after Ramazan.The hospital will have the capacity of managing 250 patients daily, conducting fifty surgeries per day and it will have four clinics and male as well as female wards, he informed.Lt Gen (R) Hamid Javaid said that poor will get quality eye care services free of cost while expenses would be met through donations, he said.
