Meesha Shafi takes a dig at LSA, suggests giving all awards to Ali Zafar

Meesha Shafi wrote a taunting message on her Twitter account, directed at the LSA 2019, suggesting they give all the awards to one person.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 2nd May, 2019) Taking a dig at Lux Style Awards (LSA), singer Meesha Shafi has said that it should give all the awards to one person (Ali Zafar).

Meesha Shafi wrote a taunting message on her Twitter account, directed at the LSA 2019, suggesting they give all the awards to one person.

“Aap saray award ek hee banday ko de dein. Please! Ok thanks bye 🙏🏼” she wrote.

Meesha Shafi had alleged her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in in June last year.

The case led to various celebrities boycotting the LSA 2019, leading to a heated controversy. Model Eman Suleman was the first to turn down her LSA nomination expressing how she did not wish to be nominated alongside an alleged harasser.

This followed boycotts by more fashion brands and celebrities, including Generation, makeup artist Saima Bargfrede, filmmaker Jami, model Rubbab Ali, singer Meesha Shafi, folk rock band The Sketches, designer Maheen Khan and makeup artist Fatima Nasir.

Singer Meesha Shafi, whose song ‘Mein’ was nominated for the best song, also demanded that her name and work be removed from the list of nominees given the current circumstances.

Meanwhile, Meesha Sharif has sent a legal notice to Ali Zafar for making “false, malicious and defamatory statements” against her.

According to the notice shared by Nighat Dad, a member of Shafi’s legal team on Twitter, the statements made by Zafar have “injured the reputation of our client” and “adversely affected our client’s honour and caused mental agony and anguish”.

The legal notice demanded an apology within 15 days of the notice, and to pay Rs2 billion as compensation “for loss and damage to [Meesha’s] reputation”.
