GENEVA, (Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2019) UN human rights experts have decried the Houthi militia's show trial of a leader of Yemen's Baha’i community that condemned him to the death penalty.
The experts include Agnes Callamard, Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions; Seong-Phil Hong, Chair Rapporteur of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention; and Dr Fernand de Varennes, UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues.
They dismissed the execution ruling as a flagrant violation of human rights principles, affirming that condemning a person to death for religious considerations can never be tolerated.
