SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th july, 2016) : Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is making strenuous efforts to promote education sector in the country.
Addressing the party workers at Pakistan Muslim League House on late night, he said that attention was being paid to ensure equal opportunities of quality education to male and female students.
Necessary arrangements were being finalized for setting up a Women University in Sialkot and the proposed university would be built on 50 acres of land on Aminabad road, he said. The Minister said the regular functioning of this proposed women university would provide the facilities of higher education to female students at their doorsteps. He said the development work on this mega project would be undertaken in near future.
He further stated that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the country had been put on the road to development and prosperity, adding that record development projects had been undertaken by the government to facilitate the masses.
The minister said that work on Sialkot-Lahore motorway would be undertaken in near future and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would perform stone laying ceremony early next month.
The proposed motorway project would help in linking remote areas and reduce the distance between Sialkot-Lahore, he said. Khawaja Asif further said the government was making adequate efforts for improving the means of communication across the country with an aim to link backwards areas with the developed ones. The Minister said that some anti-democratic elements were trying to create hurdles in the development process of the country just for their personal gains.
He urged the anti-democratic elements that they should desist from negative politics and demonstrate political maturity. The parliament, he said, was the best forum for expressing political matters, however, the political leaders should desist from "Dharna" (sit-in) in the larger national interest. The Defence Minister further said the PML-N led government was making adequate efforts to resolve the problems of people on priority basis.
The government had focused its attention on bringing economic stability in the country, he added.
