Ali Zafar breaks into tears over sexual harassment allegations

Speaking at a TV show, Ali Zafar broke down into tears and asked Meesha Shafi to end the fiasco.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 29th April, 2019) Singer cum actor Ali Zafar appeared in a tv show last night to speak about the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him fellow singer Meesha Shafi.

Speaking at the show, Ali Zafar broke down into tears and asked Meesha Shafi to end the fiasco.

“I have stayed silent over this issue for a year but whenever an allegation like this is placed on any man or woman, it completely destroys them,” he said.

When asked why Meesha Shafi would level baseless accusations against him just for fame, he said Meesha can tell this better.

“I don’t know why she is doing this, you should ask her. She should come to the court and reveal what her intention was,” he said.

He went on to say, “She had been performing with me on the stage, if she was harassed, why did she message me after that saying ‘Had a great time jamming and performing. Grateful for the kind word Ali has to say on stage.’ Would a woman who has just gotten harassed say that to her harasser?”

Ali Zafar also condemned the social media campaign against him and also called out Meesha’s lawyer Nighat Dad’s language.

He asked Meesha to resolve the matter, saying, “If you put one foot forward I will come ten steps forward.”

He also said that if he wins the case, he will dedicate the defamation money to issues faced by women.

Earlier, Ali Zafar had shared the copy of court order that rejected Meesha Shafi’s appeal.

The order read, “The agreement (between Meesha and Ali) including its exclusion clause 6.11, were agreed to and signed by the parties with free will, knowledge and consent, and it must be interpreted as discernible…The case law relied upon by the Representationist on the nature of employment concerns with law relating to industrial relations and employee old age benefits. As such, the cited judgments of superior courts are clearly distinguishable and not attracted to facts of present case.”

“It should be kept in view that proceedings under the Act are quasi-criminal in nature and standard of interpretation of a penal statute is different from that of a civil law. Consequently, the Ombudsperson has rightly declined to entertain the complaint filed before her by the Representationist,” the order further read.

Sharing the court order on Twitter, Ali Zafar wrote, “Here’s the copy of Meesha’s case dismissal exonerating me in the eyes of the law.”

Ali Zafar further vowed to prove in the eyes of people, with evidence, how she lied. “I will also expose the most heinous social media campaign against me that you may ever seen. #FaceTheCourtMeeshaShafi” he wrote.

Meesha Shafi had alleged her colleague Ali Zafar of sexual harassment in a tweet in June, 2018.

The case is currently under proceeding in the court.
