Teachings Of Baba Guru Nanak Promote Peace, Love For Humanity: Minister

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2016 ) : Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu said the teachings of Baba Guru Nanak promote love for humanity, peace and religious harmony.
He said this while participating in the 548th birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak at district Nankana. The Punjab government welcomed all the Sikh Pilgrims coming from all over the world to attend the birthday ceremony, he said, adding Pakistan was a peace loving country, where every citizen without discrimination of religion, race and color had equal rights.
He said minorities in Pakistan could celebrate their religious events with full freedom. The Punjab government had arranged exemplary arrangements in district Nankana for Sikh pilgrims, he added.
The minister said the atmosphere of religious harmony and tolerance showed by both Sikhs and Muslims here at Nankana were exemplary for the world. He said although neighboring country India was doing negative propaganda against Pakistan but the pilgrims reached here would get the message of peace, love and tolerance.
The minister said at the birthday of Baba Guru Nanak, the Punjab government had announced local holiday at Nankana.
He was here on the special instruction of Chief Minister Punjab to attend the ceremony, Sandhu said and added that every year thousands of Sikh pilgrims visited Pakistan.
He said, "We should work together for better service of humanity without any discrimination," adding, "Hospitality is the landmark of Pakistani nation, the people engaged in negative propaganda against us will face defeat." Talking to the Sikh Pilgrims, Sandhu said Punjab government had allocated 5 percent quota and providing special grants to the minorities, which helped provide them better employment opportunity.
He said by promoting religious harmony, it would help eliminate extremism form the society. In the ceremony the provincial minister cut the birthday cake of Baba Guru Nanak. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Yousaf, Minister for Kashmir Affairs Barjees Tahir, Chairman Evacuee Trust board Siddiqul Farooq and MPA Ramesh Singh Arrora and others were also present on the occasion.
The birthday ceremonies would remain continue till the end of this week.
