NEW YORK (Pakistan Point News / Online - 27th April, 2019) Pakistan has underlined the need for accelerating the world efforts for protection of women besieged in conflicts across the world.Pakistan's permanent representative in the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi said this while participating in a debate on Sexual violence in conflict at UN Security CouncilShe held foreign occupation creates the breeding ground for violence perpetrated by occupying forces against women.
Sexual violence is used as weapon in tense territories. Efforts will have to be made to administer justice to the affected women.She further said that Pakistan has achieved the goal of deployment of fifteen per cent female staff officers in peacekeeping missions, thus fulfilling its responsibilities in accordance with the uniformed gender parity strategy and Security Council Resolutions.She urged that the affected women should be provided dignified and safe future.
