Petrol prices likely to hike by up to Rs10 per litre

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has completed its working on the summary to increase petrol prices.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 25th April, 2019) Petrol prices are likely to increase by up to Rs 10 from the next month.

Media reports said that the petroleum prices will be increased due to hike in international petrol prices.

Sources said that a hike of Rs 8.80 per litre is expected in the petrol prices. The price High Speed Diesel is expected to hike by Rs 10 per litre, Light Speed Diesel by Rs 6.50 per litre while Kerosene Oil by Rs 7 per litre.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has completed its working on the summary to increase petrol prices.

The summary will be sent to Finance Ministry on April 29.

The new petrol prices will come into effect following the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The government earlier increased petrol and High Speed Diesel price by Rs 6 per litre.

The prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil were also increased by Rs 3 each.

Opposition leaders including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Federal government over its decision to increase the prices of all petroleum products by up to 6.45% in the month of April.

On the other hand, the hike in the prices of petroleum products was also challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC) as well.

The plea had declared the increase in the prices as illegal, stating that the matter is already under hearing in the court. The plaintiff further requested the court to issue restraining order on the implementation of new prices.
