This year's Ramadan Women’s Sports Tournament, to be held from 8th-14th May, will see 21 teams participating across four sports, including basketball, volleyball, shooting and archery

SHARJAH, (Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2019) This year's Ramadan Women’s Sports Tournament, to be held from 8th-14th May, will see 21 teams participating across four sports, including basketball, volleyball, shooting and archery.

Organised by Sharjah Women’s Sports, SWS, and held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of SWS, this year’s edition will highlight the importance of sports during the Holy month of Ramadan, and seek to improve the abilities of athletes.

"At SWS, we are keen to organise sporting events and activities throughout the year, and provide a space for athletes to compete, showcase their talents and hone their abilities to prepare for future tournaments at the local and international levels," said Nada Askar Al Naqbi, General Director of SWS.

"We are on a continuous mission to provide the best environment for our players across all competitions and games, reflecting the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Jawahar bint Mohammed Al Qasimi to encourage women to participate in international sporting competitions, and inspire the advancement of women's sports in Sharjah and the UAE," she added.

First-place winners will receive monetary awards, while spectators, who will be entertained with activities during half time, can participate in daily draws and win a variety of prizes.

Established in November 2016 under an Emiri Decree issued by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, SWS aims to empower women athletes, create a talented generation of women leaders in sports, encourage women's participation in sports, and provide an environment that contributes to advancing women's sports.
